A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested on a felony warrant and for concealing and destroying evidence among other charges Tuesday following a foot chase with deputies, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Daniel Jacobsen was taken into custody at 7:50 p.m. in the area of Idaho and West Sheffield Manor. He is being held without bail in lieu of a hearing on the felony parole and probation violation charge.
According to the arrest report, deputies arrived at an Armory Drive address in an attempt to serve the felony warrant. A resident of the home said Jacobsen escaped through the garage after the officer had knocked on the door. The deputy followed tracks leading to a neighbor’s yard. Other deputies arrived and began a search for the man.
He was seen jumping over fences, going through backyards and disobeying orders to stop. He was finally taken into custody on the felony warrant charge and violation of a suspended sentence.
During the intake search at the Carson City jail the man admitted to using heroin earlier in the day. Inside a hat he had on him there was a small plastic bag with brown residue on it. During a strip search jail officers observed a piece of plastic coming from a body cavity.
The suspect pulled out the six-inch piece of plastic with a round black substance inside. He then put the plastic and substance in his mouth and “it was no longer there,” the arrest report states. He was also charged with destroying or concealing evidence, a gross misdemeanor, and obstructing an officer, a misdemeanor.
