A Dayton man and Auburn, Calif., woman face felony charges after the stolen car he was driving crashed into a car causing injury on Saturday during a pursuit by Carson City Sheriff's patrol officers.

William Vuki Wilson, 32, faces six felony charges including leaving the scene of an accident, DUI drugs, possessing a stolen vehicle, eluding, drug possession and reckless driving causing substantial bodily harm.

A female occupant in the stolen car with Wilson, Dominique Marie Campora, 23, of Auburn, Calif., faces a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and three misdemeanors including obstructing a police officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic device.

Two Care Flight helicopters landed on Highway 50 East and the three injured were treated for non life-threatening injuries.

According to the sheriff's report, At 3:55 p.m. Saturday officers patrolling with the Special Enforcement Team observed a black Honda Accord stopped at the intersection of Fifth Street and Parkland Avenue. The vehicle was stopped for some time in the intersection and the patrol officers thought the driver might be in need of assistance.

The patrol officer recognized Wilson from previous Special Enforcement Team investigations. The officer spoke with Wilson for about a minute when dispatch advised the vehicle that he was driving was reported stolen out of Sparks. When the officer heard the radio transmission, Wilson sped away.

A patrol officer spotted the vehicle at the intersection of Roop and Robinson streets traveling at a high rate of speed; another deputy clocked Wilson doing 80 mph eastbound on Robinson Street, where the pursuit went northbound on Saliman Road, then to Highway 50 East, where Wilson ran a red light in the middle of traffic, the arrest report states.

The pursuit continued to the intersection of Fairview Drive where Wilson slammed into a 2012 Hyundai hatchback driven by a woman, who sustained serious injuries and was transported via Care Flight.

Wilson and passenger Campora fled the vehicle and there was a brief foot chase. Both were caught, with Wilson being stopped by an off-duty peace officer who saw the collision. Wilson resisted and fought with deputies, including punching one in the face, the arrest report states.

The two suspects sustained non-life threatening injuries from the crash. In an interview in the patrol car, Wilson told the arresting officer that "someone gave me something. I've been using heroin and didn't know what I was doing."

The Nevada Highway Patrol investigators began a DUI investigation, and a blood draw was taken on William. Both vehicles were towed. During the search of the stolen vehicle, officers found several hypodermic devices and Q-tips, three balloons with heroin; a vial of an unknown liquid substance that was taken to the lab for identification and two spoons with brown residue.

Wilson is being held in Carson City Jail on $106,137 bail. Along with the felony charges, he also faces a gross misdemeanor charge of battery on a police officer and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Campora was being held on $5,121 bail.
