A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 3:17 p.m. in the 1200 block of Woodside Drive on a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest and a failure to appear warrant, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the area of Latigo Drive in reference to a domestic disturbance. Officers arrived and met with a woman who stated her boyfriend had started running westbound on Pheasant Drive.
A deputy began looking for the man and found him jumping a fence onto Fairview Drive. Other deputies followed, trailing him to Stanton Drive. A deputy pulled up, exited his vehicle and chased after the man, ordering him to stop. He continued to run. The man arrived in the 1200 block of Woodside and stopped. The officer ordered him to get on the ground and the man complied.
As he was being escorted to a patrol vehicle he became argumentative and began screaming profanities and then stopped walking. He had to be carried the rest of the way to a patrol vehicle, the arrest report states.
A routine check of the man showed he had a confirmed warrant issued Dec. 4 out of Carson City Justice Court for failure to appear in court. Bail: $2,150.
In other arrests, a 26-year-old San Francisco man was booked into jail Saturday, 7:33 a.m. in the 3200 block of North Carson Street on misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said. According to the arrest report, deputies responded to a man who was passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle. When officers arrived the vehicle engine was running with its headlight on and a left turn signal activated.
While attempting to make contact with the driver a deputy observed the man in an upright seated position with both of his hands on the steering wheel. The officer knocked on the driver’s side window in an attempt to wake him up. The man identified himself and was very confused. The officer asked the man to roll down his window. He again looked confused and did not seem to understand what the officer was asking, according to the arrest report.
The officer assisted the man with opening the driver side door. Once the door was open the officer could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the man. He had red watery eyes and slurred speech. The officer asked the man if he had been drinking. The man replied a couple. The officer observed a plastic cup filled with beer in his center cup holder.
While the man was exiting the vehicle, it appeared the man urinated on himself. He was asked if he would be willing to perform standardized field sobriety tests. The man voluntarily agreed. Due to weather conditions, he was taken to the jail sally port to perform them and showed multiple signs of impairment. He had a preliminary breath test of .193. He was taken into custody for DUI. Bail: $1,137.
